About me

  • My name is Lin-Mei Celand.  I am an experienced HR consultant and the founder of Wessex HR. 

  • I grew up in Horsham, studying at Millais and then Collyers and am keen to help local businesses being a local girl myself.

  • By way of background, I graduated with a law degree from the University of Nottingham and Masters of Law degree from the University of Hong Kong and then trained at a city law firm in London.  I qualified as an Employment solicitor in 2010.

  • Shortly after qualifying as a solicitor, I moved in house as an HR Consultant where I have been helping businesses ever since.  

  • I have advised clients in both the private and public sectors, including AXA, The British Museum, South Eastern Railway and the Imperial War Museum.

The best HR outcomes come from a combination of having a firm grasp of Employment Law and a deep understanding of business needs and the practical realities of running a business.

I feel that the combination of my legal background and training and my extensive HR knowledge places me in a unique position to give you the best advice for your situation. 

 

Through my legal training I have acquired the skills to help you navigate the complexities of English Employment Law and through my HR consultancy background I have the business experience to help you find the most practical and efficient way to deal with HR matters.

Employee Relations

Staff are the most important part of a successful business.  However, sometimes issues can crop up and Wessex HR is here to help. 

 

We can support you with advice on how to manage performance, long term sickness, disciplinaries and grievances and support you at every stage of the process.

Restructuring & redundancies 

Redundancies can occur when a business is downsizing, but also during a restructure of a  business.  The redundancy process can be a complex area and the procedures vary depending on the number of redundancies contemplated.  We can support you through every step of the redundancy process.

Recruitment

We can help with all aspects of the recruitment process including:

  1. reviewing CVs;

  2. telephone screening;

  3. attending interviews and drafting effective interview questions; and

  4. managing feedback and responding to applicants.

Training & coaching

Staff development is important for retaining valued staff and improving performance. Certain Employment Law training requirements are also now mandatory, especially for larger organisations. 

 

We are able to deliver in-house training tailored to your specific business needs.
